Today I love….Floods, Bumps, Drips and Grandma’s Soup….

Well, here I was….on my last and final day of holidays – my computer and internet are playing up no end and I have both good and bad news to share with you my lovely little readers! I have been completely and totally hippy-fied for the 20th time in my life – I think I need to move here! I love my mountain…Mt. Warning, NSW….no dreadlocks here….

but every time visit, a tiny little piece of the loveliness here….comes home with me….to share with you!!!

1.Torrential rain on arrival

  1. The chance we may be flooded in/out of Tyalgum NSW for the first few days
  2. Spiders and funny smells in an old house
  3. Dad – man it’s hot
  4. Burns and cuts on arrival
  5. What day is it? From Grandma
  6. A lost suitcase on arrival
  7. Dad – man it’s hot
  8. A found and delivered suitcase…followed by the unfortunate news the courier suffered an accident on the way back and was now in hospital
  9. What day is it? From Grandma
  10. Ah…the pool at the Local….sunshine and joy all round…..

  22. Floods in Brisbane – only 100km away
  23. TV for 2 days watching the floods and waiting to see if it hits here

  29. Shopped till I dropped at Pacific Fair
  30. Buy LCD day clock for Grandma – note to self – send calendar as well, new smoke alarms, pill holder and batteries – (for smoke alarm!)
  31. Flood in Melbourne – will we get home??
  32. Dad – man it’s hot
  33. Packing to go home – man I’m HOT!!!!
  34. What time do you have to leave?? From Grandma
  35. Have you fed the dogs Grandma? Yes, I think so…..
  36. Suffered numerous internet and keyboard difficulties – this has taken me oh maybe 1.5 hours to type! If you know me, that is NOT GOOD AT ALL
  37. What day is it today? = Grandma
  38. Woah I am HOT!!!
  39. What time do you have to leave?? From Grandma
  40. Oh how will you fit all that in your case Catrina?? = Grandma, I can do it woman! Watch me!!
  41. Grandma’s special Chicken Soup – man that’s good!!!

  43. Dad – man it’s hot
  44. Oh, wine…no I shall not whine at all….I believe I have earnt my wine today!!!

literally, “loveable” “cute” or “adorable” and has become a prominent aspect of Japanese popular culture, entertainment, clothing, food, toys, personal appearance, behavior, and mannerisms.[1]

I found Kawaii – thanks to Blythe, and my sister-in law’s Footpath travels to overseas lands….

One really cool site I love, love, love checking in on all the time is Spoonflower – last month they had a Kawaii competition for the best Kawaii fabric design! Here it is….

I’m a fidgeter…what about you???

I like to fidget….so I believe I really, really, really need one of these…or maybe more than one???

I love, love, love them so much I just want to eat them all up right now!!!

“Check out this tasty looking ring! The important word to look out for in the previous sentence is ‘looking’, the ring might look like a tasty little meringue, but unfortunately (or fortunately) they are not made out of egg whites and sugar, but industrial grade silicone, the kind of stuff that’s in your bathroom…But lets look at this in detail, shall we? Designed to look just like a little meringue, these rings are absolutely uber-delish. The silicone that’s used by German designer Tanja Hartmann makes those rings look so real that you immediately want to start sucking on them. Luckily they are made out of silicone and not sugar and egg whites, because that makes them a lot more durable then the real thing and trust us, sucking on your finger doesn’t really go down all that well in public.

In any case, the ring comes in 3 sizes, and whilst the silicone is stretchy, don’t opt for the smaller size, it will be so tight that it’s uncomfortable!

Now order the ring and start googling for the meringue recipe, we can tell you’re already anxious for a soft and fluffy sugar thingy…”

And they are cheap, cheap, cheap!!! Yay for us!!!

Today I love….Turning your light off….

Oopsie!!!

I keep turning Mr. Bigs’ light off!

What the hell? I hear you say….

Let me explain….

At some point in my life….(we’ll just blame my thrifty pom Mother for this influence!)….

I have been taught to always turn the light off when leaving a room….so every now and again, I leave the room and turn the light off when Mr. Big is still there and leave him sitting in the dark! He is not very impressed at all….but I just can’t help it! Tonight after being left in the dark, he said to me – “Thanks for that”, so I walked off and thought he was giving me a compliment for something! As I said, oopsie!!!

To my Mr. Big, I sincerely apologise for all the other times I will definitely turn off your light!!!

This is kinda the reverse of how some people can’t close doors after they enter them – in aussie land we call this being born in a tent!

Why did my life turn out this way?

Don’t get me wrong – the problem isn’t that I am not happy – I believe I am very happy….and I am thankful for my life….I am (reasonably) healthy, employed and loved, well housed, fed and clothed….I don’t actually want for much at all!

When I was growing up, I always envisaged that I would be in a different place to where I am now….

For instance….by time my Mother was my age, she had an 8 year old daughter (me) and another baby imminently due! (my brother)….of course times change….

Me, on the other hand….no children of my own (yet) but I do help look after Mr. Bigs’ kids every 2nd weekend and school holidays etc. and they are a lovely little handful of joy!!!

We do have plans however…

I thought I would have travelled the world….

I thought I would have bought 1 (if not 2) house(s) and/or made my dream home into dreamy spaces….

I thought I would have made a career for myself (not just a job!) and found my niche in the world…..I always thought I was here to make a difference in others lives….

I can’t help myself thinking….what if?

I have some regrets, yes….but what if I had taken that job?

What if that boyfriend didn’t dump me?

What if I had taken that choice instead of this one?

What if I had taken that road instead of this one?

What if someone had told me all those years ago, how hard it was going to be for me to own my own home…would I have listened? I like to think so….but I am probably kidding myself!

So now, I have some work to do….by the time I am 40 I have some things that I simply must do! So, I’ll need to write my list of things to do before 40 very soon! Stay tuned for that post!

I need to achieve…..I need to find my purpose in life and I need to be happy with the path I am on and I need to love, love, love myself again and not feel like such a failure all of the time….

I also want to know….what would you have told your younger self?

I am having major heart palpitations here at my desk folks!

For those of you that do not already know, I am a fully qualified shoemaker (Diploma Textiles, Clothing and Footwear) and I also have 5 industrial machines at home just sitting there, waiting and ready for me to use them one day. “What?!” I hear you say – “Why is she sitting on this wonderful talent??!!” Unfortunately the bills have to be paid folks and if I sat at home all day making shoes (which, mind you does take a very long time – about 4o processes go into making one pair of shoes!) I would be living in the gutter before you could say jump…..

So anyhoo, when I saw these super awesome wonderful shoes, I really appreciated the design and architecture (yes, you will see soon; I can call it that!) from a shoemaking point of view. These shoes are wonderful, beautiful and attention seeking works of art, that also look (surprisingly) very comfortable to wear. I just have to cross my fingers and toes now that they bring me a store down under in the very near future!!!

One of the things we will all remember about him is the notepad….
Whenever you had a problem or a question, out would come the trusty notepad and pencil (always a pencil, and always sharp!) to weigh the pros and cons of the situation and discover the best path for you to take….I myself am an avid note-taker….
So here’s hoping that Evernote will help me in the digital age….
